Link Building No-No's to Watch Out For

There are millions of websites and blogs on the Internet on every imaginable topic. Of course, everyone doesn't get the traffic that they expect. This is because it takes more than just a website on the net to get visitors to it.

One such factor is SEO link building, the process of getting backlinks from other relevant sites that have good content.

There are a great number of webmasters who understand the process but even more do not. How can you be in the group who sees success from their link building? You can outdo the majority of SEO link builders if you so things the right way. If you don't know by now, the search engines are much more advanced than they were a few years ago so using most of the "black hat" or quick results type of SEO doesn't work anymore and is easily detected; your site will get penalized very quickly.

The most effective link building is done with a plan that allows you to build quality links slow and steadily over time. Fast paced link building is a surefire way to lose in the end. Following are a list of some of the most common mistakes that some people often receive as advice.

Backlinks are what gives your site its authority and must not be taken lightly if your plan is to build a real business that keeps earning for you nonstop. It's a shame but the truth is that the many people's idea of linkbuilding is spamming any site that they can. You may get away with your spam tactics for a short time but once caught your site will be de-indexed and your work just went down the drain. So there's nothing great in blasting your link out to these big sites in the hope of getting instant ranking. In fact, you won't gain any ranking and will lose some in the end.

Linking to sites with bad reputations can backfire on you and Google will place your site in the same class.

When you're linking to these sites, technically you're telling Google that you recommend them, which results in a penalty coming your way. This is why before you even make the effort to link to any site, you must check their reputation.

Linking to a site with a bad reputation a bad reputation is not a good idea no matter what you are offered; in the end you will lose and your site will be become frowned upon by the search engines. It is very important to stay in your niche when getting links, so if you have a website advertising a close up magician, try and find links directly related to magic or weddingsm parties etc

You want a page to be relevant to your own and have a high pagerank before you put your one way link on it. If you do this right, your site will become a powerhouse on the first page for some very competitive keywords, and you know what that can mean. If you want a safe but effective and long lasting approach then this is it. Unless you want your income to suddenly dry up and leaving you desperate for the next get-rich-quick thing then I suggest that you stick to ethical practices. Don't take the "easy" way out and spam or use unethical tactics because most of them don't stand a chance against the search engines of today. By staying diligent you will build hundreds of high PR links that are relevant to your site
